I have been creating beautiful images with Ava Couture since 2014. From shooting on motorcycles to shooting with a mini horse we always manage to have fun. So to help you to get to know her better I asked her a few questions! Check it out!
What is your favorite part of being a vintage beauty specialist?
It’s incredibly rewarding to transform modern everyday women into vintage inspired pinups & show them just how beautiful they already are. Performing these classic techniques allows me to carry on the vintage beauty traditions of what I consider to be the most glamorous era.
How would you define your personal style?
I feel the most beautiful when wearing a vintage dress & heels. But my everyday style is a more casual variation of vintage fashion with a few modern trends thrown in for fun.
What’s a funny or interesting fact about yourself?
I grew up as a dancer. When I was in high school I became a company member of The Nashville Ballet (way too cool, right?). I was even a soloist in The Nutcracker. But to this day I still can’t do a cartwheel.
I want to wish everyone good luck and I will see you tomorrow on instagram stories!
Prior to the 2016 election, I didn’t think much about my brown skin or that my parents were immigrants. I have been called exotic or people have given me a curious stare because I do not speak English with a Spanish accent (maybe a California Accent). I am from Los Angeles and attended an inner city Catholic school for most of my life. All of the kids I went to school with looked liked me and if they didn’t look like me, we were for the most part Catholic with immigrant parents. Fast forward to today, I make it a point to tell people that my parents are immigrants and we are no different. I live in Tennessee (Trump Country and that’s ok). I am an American just like you. Our politics may be different but, we are all human and beautiful. All of my ideas and creativity are fueled by that Latina fire and passion. Karla Cruz Photography will not stand with bigotry and hatred, we celebrate the beauty in cultural diversity. Let me capture your extraordinary beauty no matter how it’s packaged.
We are beautiful, We are extraordinary, We are the American Dream.
